Look - I'm actually in Thailand! That's Selket with me (hollller Alana). Uncle Dan, I can still do the one-armed portrait, haven't lost that touch yet.
I didn't end up sleeping out with my Burmese family - the mom was out for the night, and my coach Pailin and I figured it wasn't really Thai-appropriate for me to sleep out with just the Dad. So instead I stayed over late and then woke up early in the morning (i.e. 4 a.m. to be there for sunrise) and then spent the day.
Below is "my" Burmese home in Thailand, just before sunrise.
In other news: My friends and I booked airline tickets to Bangkok for the day our group trip ends. We're going to fly there and then take an overnight train to Changmai, spend a few days around there, then probably hit up one small area (a monkey village maybe?) before taking a train back to Bangkok - I fly out on the 26th. Then three of them continue on to Vietnam and possibly Cambodia.
More later,
XO, Julie

We taught her well.
And in my book, any place that's referred to as a "monkey village" is a must see! Just make sure all your camera gear, as well as your hat, sunglasses, and anything else that can be grabbed, is somehow attached to your body.
And while you're at it, make sure your body is attached to someone else's body. Them monkeys is strong.
